Water recreation abounds both within Show Low and in the White Mountains area with beautiful mountain lakes and streams. Bass, Walleye, Crappie and species of Trout populate the waters in the area. This is the only place in the world to find the Apache Trout.

This high country is a hiker's dream where a variety of landscape features both easy and more difficult hiking trails from mountains to rugged cliffs, around lakes, alongside mountain streams and among thick pines and colorful aspens. An abundance of wildlife including black bears and elk and deer are often seen by hikers along with hawks and eagles that fly the skies above.

A few miles north of Show Low, the Pintail Lake Wildlife Area offers exceptional bird-watching opportunities. Migratory geese as well as the famed white-breasted pintail are a few favorites, but there are many other bird species to behold.

Show Low and the area also features several championship golf courses that meander through the forests and around the lakes. The cool summer temperatures makes the Show Low area a great place for a golf getaway.

Located on the southern boundary of the City is Show Low Lake, operated by Recreation Resource Management under contract with the City of Show Low, which offers campgrounds and picnic areas, including a 75-site group campground area.

Home Away From Home - only better

This is our go-to place when we're headed to Show Low. The entire reservation process was very easy. The owners are always helpful and responsive to our needs. The cabin and its location is immaculate and peaceful. There's nothing like sipping fresh coffee in the morning or sipping wine while sitting at their front porch. This is definitely serenity defined. It is a short distance from Fool's Hollow lake, where our family enjoyed water activities like fishing, swimming and kayaking. The front porch faces a kid's play area (not busy or noisy) but you can pretty much monitor the kids while sitting on the porch. There are also walking/jogging/biking trails across the street. This is definitely our first choice for a little vacation.

Absolutely the BEST cabin in the area!

My crew and I were working a month long contract in Show Low and had rented another cabin in the area, which we very quickly had to vacate due to many problems with the cabin. The scramble was on to find a new place and the owner of this cabin was very quick to help us out at a moments notice. When we walked in the door, we wished we had found her sooner! The first thing you notice is how beautifully decorated the cabin is! Everything is in perfect order and very comfortable. A large patio overlooks the park right across the street and the woods behind it. We saw several foxes and animals during our stay right from the safety of our patio! Added bonus: There is a Pinetop Police Officer who lives right next door giving us added safety.

Everything worked perfectly inside the cabin and there were small bins of items above the washer/dryer that contained everything you could possibly imagine. I needed a piece of tape for something, and there it was in the bin. The master bedroom has a very comfortable bed and it's own bathroom, with ample closet and drawer space. There is also a nice flat screen tv mounted on the wall with a sleep timer, perfect for me as I like to go to sleep with the TV on but still have it shut off later. The bathroom was large and also stocked with soap, shampoo and toiletries in case you forgot to bring something.

The second bedroom has 4 bunk beds that were also very comfortable. There is an additional sleeping pad provided as well. My male staff member being the trooper he was, got the sofa out front to sleep on. He said it was the most comfortable sofa he ever slept on.

There are DVD's, guitars, games and other things provided for you. One of my favorite things was the fireplace that turned on with the flip of a switch! We LOVED it! The cabin was spotless upon our arrival and I just can't say enough good things about this rental. The extra time the owners put in for decoration and comfort shows their pride in ownership and wanting to give the renter a great cabin. The cabin next door is also a rental and I got to see inside. It was the difference of night and day. In fact, the man who rented it, after seeing ours, asked us for this owners name and number! It is not possible for anyone to not be happy with this cabin. The owners are also very quick to answer the phone or an email, which is just another added bonus. We will be back.
